Treadmills
Fitness equipment comes in a range of different machines, but treadmills are still the most popular. Treadmills offer a great cardio workout and users burn more calories than with any other fitness equipment. Treadmills are:
- Easy to use fitness equipment
- Work for people of all ages
- Work for high or low impact workouts
- Have handles to provide support for those without good balance or coordination
- Adjustable speed allows for a leisurely walk or a full out run
- Models with inclines intensify workouts without adding speed
- Gives the large muscle groups a great workout like no other fitness equipment
The easiest way to choose the perfect treadmill is to learn about treadmills. Take the time to try out many models before buying. Keep the following in mind when choosing treadmills as your fitness equipment.
- When trying out a treadmill, notice if it vibrates or wobbles. If it does, move on. It is important for fitness equipment to be stable.
- Notice whether the position of the handrails feels comfortable and natural. Injuries happen with fitness equipment feels awkward.
- Most treadmills have digital control panels with lots of gadgets, some you may want (such as heart rate monitors, timers, and calories burned) and some you will not. Choose a treadmill with the digital gadgets you require.
- A high alloy steel frame may be stronger than an aluminum frame, but they are also heavier and will rust if not painted or clear coated. Welded frames are stronger than bolted frames on any fitness equipment. Do not choose fitness equipment with plastic frames.
- Select a treadmill with speed settings that span at least zero to ten miles per hour.
- Choose a treadmill with more than 1.5 horsepower.
- When trying out a treadmill, make sure the walking and running surface is long enough. Walk with a long stride to make sure you will have enough length in the belt. The belt should not be thinner than sixteen inches across.
- Make sure you can safely reach the controls while walking or running on the treadmill.
- Determine if you prefer a treadmill with an optional incline. Some treadmills have a manual include where you must physical crank or set the machine to an incline. Treadmills that are more expensive usually offer an automatic electronic incline setting.
- Try out plenty of treadmills in plenty of price ranges to determine which is best for you. Expensive treadmills are not always better. Sometimes they just have more gadgets. Low-priced treadmills are usually as good as choice as mid-priced treadmills.
- Choose a treadmill with a lifetime warranty when possible. Some treadmills come with a lifetime warranty for the frame, but only a limited warranty on the moving parts of a treadmill. Either way, choose a treadmill with some sort of warranty.
