Choosing A Bike
Fitness equipment does not always have to be indoors. The perfect piece of fitness equipment for outdoors is a bike. There are several different types of bikes. Determine what kind of bike you want. Do you want to ride on the street? Do you want to trail ride? Deciding how you want to use your new bike will determine what kind of bike you purchase.
Street Bikes
Street bikes are fitness equipment for riding on the road. They come in standard ten-speed varieties, as well as new speeds ranging from twelve-speed to twenty-one-speed. Street bikes have dropped handlebars, allowing the rider to crouch to become aerodynamic. They also have thin tires. Street bikes come in three different forms of fitness equipment: racing, sport, and touring.
Racing bikes are aerodynamic, light, and fast. If you are considering bike racing, a racing bike is the perfect piece of fitness equipment for you. Racing bikes have dropped handlebars, are sensitive, and move at high speeds. Take it slow when starting out on a racing bike to prevent falls and injury.
Sport bikes are great fitness equipment for exercising. They are not as fast as racing bikes, but are still aerodynamic and quick. Sport bikes usually have dropped handlebars and are comfortable for those riding long distances on the road.
Touring bikes are best for cycling long distances. These are the most comfortable bikes for marathon riding. The comfortable dropped handlebars adjust for several handgrips. They have multiple speeds, are easy uphill, and can stop on a dime. Touring bikes are a great piece of fitness equipment.
Mountain Bikes
Mountain bikes, also known as all-terrain bikes, can take a beating. Built for off-road use, mountain bikes are sturdy. They have straight handlebars instead of dropped handlebars and have bigger tires than street bikes. Riders have a more upright position with this fitness equipment than with street bikes. This gives the rider more control in navigating uneven terrain.
Hybrid Bikes
Hybrid bikes are part street bike, part mountain bike. These bikes do not ride as fast as a street bike, but they do weigh less than a mountain bike. Hybrid bikes usually have straight handlebars instead of dropped handlebars. The tires on a hybrid bike are smaller than a mountain bike but larger than a street bike. They have multiple gears/speeds. Hybrid bikes are perfect “everyday” bikes and a great piece of fitness equipment to add to your home gym.
